What up members..?? So I am attempting to drill out my 80% lower. Although I passed wood shop in HS, this is way different. Yea, Yea, I know this is a touchy subject, like FEMA camps... I talked to my inner circle about folks who have the set-up and you just push a button - well you know the rest of the story. Is there anything that can be shared from experience..?? I am tired of watching videos... but I am always looking to learn... Thanks.... yea I know, here is this guy's first post....  less

I have milled out several 80% lowers using the router method (see modulusarms.com), so my experience is limited to that. What I can tell you about the router method in milling an 80% lower is that it's like trying to hold onto Rocky J. Squirrel on CRACK!  Honestly, if I had a taller drill press I probably would have opted to mill it that way, as it seems like a more stable platform. It is a lengthy process either way, and you do of course need to keep tolerances as tight as possible. I have to tell you that unlike assembling MilSpec parts for an AR build, the first time you pull the trigger on a completed 80% lower it is a test of your courage - no matter how well it appears to function you will hold it out further than normal and squint as you squeeze the trigger! The only advice I can give is to take your time and do what you can to ensure tolerances are tight. If I were to pay any special attention it would be in the rear pocket as you mill out the area where the safety selector goes. I did almost...    less

I have one milled out already and when I did compare it to my other ones, it made me wonder for sure...  I will keep at it, as practice makes perfect, right..??  Thanks again for sharing a few things..!! Have a great day..!!
